Points cloud

Laser scanning is currently the most effective method allowing to obtain very precise spatial measurements in a short time. The scanning effect is a three-dimensional set of millions of points reflecting the reality called a point cloud.

For the needs of our clients, we provide raw measurement information in the form of a point cloud. The point cloud can be prepared in shades of gray with the possibility of applying colors corresponding to the reflection strength of the laser beam, or it can be “colored” according to the actual colors of the objects. However, it should be remembered that preparing a “colorful” cloud requires a longer time to take measurements.

As part of the service, we perform: scanning, combine the received data into a single point cloud and export to the format indicated by the client:

  •  .e57
  • .rcs
  • .pts
  • .pod
  • or other upon individual request

The file obtained in this way is ready for further work and analyzes.Panoramic and 3D preview
As a complement to the point cloud, we provide our clients with a free scan browser that requires no installation. It gives the possibility to preview in a panoramic or 3D view of the scanned area from any position of the scanner and perform basic measurements.
Further data editing
We offer our clients: 2D documentation, 3D models, animation, visualization and many other studies to clients who do not have the possibility of further processing of the point cloud.

2D DOCUMENTATION

The point cloud is a raw product that very often requires further processing. In order to prepare 2D Documentation (floor plans, cross-sections) it is necessary to have appropriate skills and specialized software. As a design company, we have the necessary facilities and we have many years of experience in preparing such studies.

We develop 2D documentation using AutoCAD.
Preparation of 2D Documentation is a time-consuming process, so it is very important to determine with the client the level of detail of the study before proceeding with the order.

3D MODELS

The point cloud is a raw product that very often requires further processing. In order to prepare the 3D Model, it is necessary to have the appropriate skills and specialized software. As a design company, we have the necessary facilities and we have many years of experience in preparing such studies.

We develop 3D models using software from the Autodesk family:

  • AutoCAD
  •  AutoCAD Plant
  •  Inventor
  •  Revit

Preparation of the 3D Model is a time-consuming process, so it is very important to determine with the client the level of detail of the study before proceeding with the order.

DEFORMATION SURVEYS

The dynamic development of scanning meant that software appeared on the market giving wider possibilities of using data from the scanner. PCM-3d has specialized software from Faro – BuildIT Construction, giving the ability to compare real-time data from laser scanning with the CAD model. This finds a number of applications in Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.

The possibilities offered by BuildIT Construction software:

The scanned walls and floors are compared with a perfectly smooth vertical or horizontal surface. The obtained results are presented in the form of hypsometric and numerical maps.

Deformation analysis of e.g. tanks

Various deformation analyzes:
– Comparison of the scanned object with workshop documentation
– Cyclical object scans to analyze deformations in the work cycle

Tank volume calculations

Performing a tank scan for which there is no technical documentation gives the opportunity to calculate its actual volume.

Analysis of the location of various construction elements, i.e. floors, steel beams, walls, windows, doors

Scanning a building object gives you the opportunity to check whether the project is implemented easily. They can be carried out during implementation to control the progress of construction works on an ongoing basis or at the end as as-built documentation.

BIM MODELS

WHAT DOES BIM MEAN?
BIM – Building Information Model means a database containing all information describing a building object (geometrical data, physical features, functional features, cost data, technical parameters, data necessary to ensure the maintenance of the facility equipment, data on the demand for utilities, etc.) and the process of its creation, thanks to which a virtual model of a planned or existing building object is created in the computer.

The BIM model can be used for various analyzes, conducting construction simulations (for new buildings) or renovations (for existing buildings). It enables the selection of the optimal construction, technological and logistic solution, allows analyzing costs and implementation schedule, capturing design collisions and assembly collisions.

MESH MODELS

MESH MODEL is a reproduction of an irregular surface using a polygon mesh – usually triangles. Depending on the density of the mesh, the correct mapping accuracy is obtained.

Application of the MESH Model:

  • Irregular surfaces
  • Irregular historic, sacred objects, including: architectural details, figures, sculptures
  •  Archaeological sites with excavations
  • Museum exhibits

TRUE VIEW

TruView combines 360-degree panoramic images with laser scanning data that allow the user to make 3D measurements and read point coordinates.
TruView can be generated in shades of gray or generated in real colors if scanning is done with RGB color registration.
Using the TruView tool is intuitive and does not require the user to have the knowledge and skills needed to work with CAD software. TruView enables virtual visits to the project under development.

BENEFITS OF USING TRUEVIEW:
The ability to take measurements and read coordinates using free software
Virtual walk in the place where measurements are taken from anywhere and at any time
Object preview in panoramic images from each scan position

Do you need an inventory of the object in the form of a point cloud?
Don’t you have adequate facilities to make a model based on data from the scanner?
Or maybe you would like to carry out as-built analysis of the structure?
